Musing about marketing

What? Where did the month go? It’s been a rush of work and family, and I haven’t gotten nearly as much writing in as I’d hoped.

I did, however, manage to get the revisions for book 3 done and it is currently in the wonderful hands of some amazing ladies who’ve volunteered to be beta readers.

The editor is always important, but sometimes its even more important to make sure that the book makes sense to a few extra people. 😉

I have started the initial edits for book 4! This part is interesting, as it’s been almost a year since the last time I looked at the book and I almost feel like I’m reading the story for the first time.
Fun, but soooo many typos!

With the first 3 months of book selling behind me, I’ve had a chance to look at how it has gone.

I’ve been so fortunate with the support of my family and friends that I have zero complaints, but I’m left wondering just how does someone get their name and book out there without selling a kidney or spending insane amounts of time and effort to promote themselves.

This has me pondering the idea of going narrow, at least until I have more recognition. I’d initially considered doing this, but as an Ibook reader myself, I wanted people to have the option to read the books in whatever format they wanted to read them.

But, now that I’m three months in and everyone that I know has gotten a copy if they want one, I’m wondering again whether narrow would be better.

Amazon is a giant, after all, and the kindle select program would be a possible way to find a larger fan base without needing to market (necessarily)

I know at some point that will happen, but I just don’t have the time for it at the moment.
Any thoughts?
Would you still buy if your choices were kindle and paperback only?
